The iconic Super GT has been updated with some exciting new features. The fabulous Fightin’ Drag system is complimented with other unique features such as AR-C spool, Aero Wrap II and a lightweight yet durable XT-7 body material. The sleek cosmetics of the Super GT hide great power, this power comes from precision engineering which includes zinc diecast gear and the use of high torque 5.0:1 (2500 size) and 4.8:1 (4000 size) gear ratios. Three shielded stainless steel ball bearings and a roller bearing encourage super smooth running and a single machined aluminium handle delivers great winding power. The Super GT is available in both 2500 and 4000 sizes meaning there is a Super GT to suit many styles of angling from lure work for predatory species through to all styles of float and feeder fishing.
Reel uses the patented Shimano systems :
Power Roller :
The special design of the Shimano Power Roller significantly reduces line twist during the retrieve and is a big advantage when using thin mono and braid.
Super Stopper II :
With the reel set in anti-reverse mode you'll find zero free-play on the handle thanks to Super Stopper II. Unerringly positive every time, its practical benefits include micro increment settings of quiver tips or specialist bite indicators and faster hook setting.
AR-C Spool :
A spool design with a V-shape spool lip ensuring that the line comes off the reel in smaller loops for further and more accurate casting. The AR-C spool will minimise the risk of backlash.
Easy Maintenance :
An easy and efficient way to keep your reel working at optimum performance. This feature enables direct lubrication of the reel's inner workings - without having to take it apart. A small oil lubrication port can be found on each of the S-system reels which, when removed, enables you to apply manufacturer approved lubricants to the inside mechanism.
Aero Wrap II :
By improving the internal friction efficiency Shimano succeeded in bringing it?s line lay systems close to perfection. Close parallel coils in combination with 2 speed oscillation ensure smoother and further casting.
Dyna Balance :
Reduces reel wobble and allows produces ultra smooth performance.
Floating Shaft II :
The key friction area on most fixed spool reels is where the spool drive shaft meets the pinion. Shimano designers have overcome this by reducing a large percentage of surface area contact, and incorporating bearings on either side of the shaft. The resultant design leaves the shaft in a "floating" position, considerably improving efficiency and longevity.
